Mishi Choudhary is working with SFLC following the completion of her fellowship during which she earned her LLM from Columbia Law School and was a Stone Scholar. Prior to joining forces with SFLC in 2006, she practiced as a High Court and Supreme Court litigator in New Delhi. At SFLC, Mishi is the primary legal representative of many of the world’s most significant free software developers and non-profit distributors, including Debian, the Apache Software Foundation, and OpenSSL. In 2010, she founded SFLC.in, since which time she has divided her time between New York and New Delhi. Under her direction, SFLC.in has become the premier non-profit organization representing the rights of Internet users and free software developers in India. As of 2015, Mishi is the only lawyer in the world simultaneously to appear on briefs in the US and Indian Supreme Courts in the same Term. She consults with and advises established businesses and startups using free software in their products and service offerings in the US, Europe, India, China and Korea. In 2015 she was named one of the Asia Society’s 21 young leaders building Asia’s future.In addition to an LLM, she has an LL.B degree and a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Delhi. Mishi is a member of the Bar Council of Delhi, licensed to appear before the Supreme Court of India, all the State High Courts in India, in the State of New York, and before the Southern District of New York.
Prasanth Sugathan is a technology lawyer and Partner at MCA. His areas of practice include technology law, Intellectual property law, administrative law and constitutional law. He is an engineer turned lawyer and has appeared before various High Courts, Tribunals and the Supreme Court on a wide range of matters. He is the standing counsel for Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kerala.
He has deposed before Parliamentary Committees on issues related to Information Technology Act and Net Neutrality. He has been closely involved in policy issues related to patentability of Computer Related Inventions and has presented his views at consultations held by the Controller General on CRI Guidelines.
Prasanth has also spoken at various national and international conferences on issues related to Freedom of Speech, Privacy, Net neutrality and Cyber security. He has co-edited two books on administrative law and property law.
Sukarn Singh Maini procured his B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) from Gujarat National Law University, India in 2013. He worked as a litigator for three years in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. A coder in his free time, he has keenly followed the developments in technology law for years. His areas of practice include privacy, data protection, freedom of expression, software patents, creative commons and FOSS.
Priyanka obtained her B.A. L.L.B. (Hons.) from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, specializing in Constitutional law and Intellectual Property Rights, following which she litigated at the High Court of Calcutta. Her areas of interest include Constitutional law, Technology law and Human Rights. She is enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of West Bengal. At Mishi Choudhary and Associates, she is involved in policy and research work, particularly in the areas of Freedom of Speech and Expression, Privacy, Data Protection and Intermediary Liability.
Tripti has pursued her Ba.LLB (Hons.) from Amity Law School,Delhi. At MCA, Tripti is involved in various projects that includes research and advisory on a variety of issues such as privacy rights, civil rights, trademarks and copyrights.
Before joining Mishi Chaudhary & Associates, Tripti was assisting Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Mr. S.Y Quraishi on a research project pertaining to numerous issues plaguing South Asian democracies. She wants to work towards the country’s developmental agenda and her decisions are not driven by fear or societal divisiveness.
Tripti is enrolled with Bar Council of Delhi as an advocate.
Shashank has pursued his law from Symbiosis Law School, Pune in 2014 and has since worked in various disciplines such as - Intellectual Property Rights, International Taxation, Corporate Law, Education Policy and Human Rights. His interests include Technology Law, Intellectual Property Law and Constitutional Law. He is also enthusiastic about policy research and believes that meaningful solutions can only breed from quality research and implementation.
Gurbir holds a Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science Engineering from Punjab Technical University and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, specializing in gender justice, human rights and IPR. Besides, he has passed Post-Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws from Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. He has practiced as an advocate at Punjab and Haryana High Court, Punjab State Consumer Commission and various other tribunal and district courts.
At Mishi Choudhary & Associates, he handles litigation at different judicial forums across New Delhi. He is passionate to work in areas of privacy, data protection, FOSS and intellectual property laws.
